LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar inaugurated the Nawab Town Cricket Sports Complex, constructed at a cost of Rs110 million, and said the facility would promote healthy activities among youth.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by provincial ministers including Bilal Yasin, Sohail Shaukat Butt and Sher Ali Gorchani, Adviser to Chief Minister Zeeshan Malik, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and other officials.
Talking to media, the minister said the complex is a gift from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for sports lovers of the area. He added that the facility is equipped with modern amenities, including a jogging track, playground, air-conditioned pavilion and changing rooms.
Faisal Ayub said that 188 multi-purpose sports complexes are being constructed across the province, while work on 1,000 playgrounds is also underway to promote sports at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, an exhibition cricket match was played between Punjab Cabinet XI and Officers XI at the Nawab Town ground, in which Punjab Cabinet XI defeated Officers XI by 37 runs.
Punjab Cabinet XI, led by Bilal Yasin, scored 110 runs while batting first, with Sohail Shaukat Butt contributing 44 runs, Faisal Khokhar 30 runs and Sher Ali Gorchani 20 runs.
In reply, Officers XI, led by Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta, were bowled out for 73 runs, conceding defeat by 37 runs.
