KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) The district administration has reviewed security and administrative preparations ahead of Muharram processions, with officials pledging heightened vigilance to ensure public safety during the religious observances.
Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Nawaz visited the Sherkot area on Tuesday to inspect arrangements for Muharram processions.
During the visit, he reviewed designated procession routes, received briefings from officials and directed relevant departments to implement all necessary measures to facilitate mourners and ensure the peaceful conduct of events.
Separately, District Police Officer (DPO), Shahbaz Elahi chaired a meeting with police officers and personnel assigned to Muharram security duties.
The senior police officials, including officers responsible for investigations, city operations and headquarters administration, attended the session.
Elahi reviewed the district's security plan, including arrangements for processions and religious gatherings, monitoring of sensitive locations and deployment responsibilities.

The police chief stressed the importance of cooperation among law enforcement agencies, the district administration and local communities to promote harmony and prevent any untoward incident.
He instructed officers to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to approved procession routes and schedules.
The security measures would include enhanced monitoring at entry and exit points, surveillance of suspicious activities, strengthened search operations and increased use of closed-circuit television cameras and other modern equipment, he said.
The rapid response teams would remain on high alert to respond to any emergency, the DPO added.
Concluding the meeting, he urged officers and personnel to carry out their duties with professionalism and dedication to help maintain law and order throughout the Muharram period.
