NA Speaker meets Punjab Senior Minister, lauds CM’s reform agenda

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and discussed ongoing development initiatives in the province, here on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Speaker lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her reform-oriented governance, commending her leadership and noting that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, development initiatives were being implemented on an equitable basis across all districts and Constituencies.

The Speaker stated that the public was expressing gratitude to the chief minister for launching the largest development programme in the province’s 70-year history under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP), which covers 60 cities. He observed that initiatives such as “Suthra Punjab” were receiving appreciation not only within Punjab but across the country. NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq added that the provincial government was transforming outdated systems in health, education and sewerage into modern, efficient and dynamic structures aligned with global standards.

Highlighting key projects, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq described the introduction of electric green buses as a “revolutionary step” in public transport, while also appreciating efforts to combat smog and promote environmental sustainability, calling them historic and worthy of emulation. He added that progress in sectors including information technology, environment, agriculture and economy was evident and speaking for itself.

The Speaker also lauded the launch of a fast train service project from Lahore to Rawalpindi, terming it another milestone in improving connectivity and infrastructure.

Earlier, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb briefed the speaker on various development initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She also appreciated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s performance as Speaker National Assembly, particularly with regard to legislation and the effective conduct of parliamentary business.
