Nine arrested, 10 shops sealed over profiteering

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) The district administration has imposed fines amounting to Rs87,500, arrested nine people

and sealed 10 shops during a major crackdown against profiteers, here on Wednesday.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz, price control magistrates and district enforcement teams conducted 5,833 inspections across markets in the city to ensure implementation of government-prescribed rate lists and prevent overpricing.

The DC said a zero-tolerance policy against profiteering and directed price control magistrates to ensure strict daily monitoring of all markets.

He also ordered immediate sealing of shops involved in hoarding and creating artificial inflation.

Muhammad Ali Ejaz said that all available administrative resources would be utilized to ensure provision of essential commodities at affordable prices to citizens.

He urged the public to report overpricing by contacting the district administration’s control room at 03070002345 or through official social media platforms.
