Over 5,000 police personnel deployed amid arrival of foreign delegations

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) The security across Rawalpindi has been placed on high alert following the arrival of foreign delegations, with more than 5,000 police personnel deployed throughout the city.

Acting on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, the authorities on Friday have established over 350 special checkpoints at key entry and exit points. Police officials from Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Murree are actively supervising security arrangements on the ground to ensure effective implementation.

According to a police spokesperson, Elite Force, Dolphin Force, and other quick response units have been mobilized, with additional personnel assisgned along major roads and highways.

A high-level meeting chaired by the CPO at Police Lines Headquarters emphasized the need for foolproof security measures under all circumstances.

Security has been further tightened around sensitive installations, important public and private buildings, and residential areas hosting the visiting delegations. Continuous monitoring is being carried out through Safe City cameras and modern surveillance technologies. As part of heightened precautions, strict checking has been enforced at all entry points, while bus terminals have been temporarily closed. Markets, hotels, and other key locations are under increased surveillance.

To minimize public inconvenience, a comprehensive traffic management plan has been ichalked out, providing alternative routes to maintain the flow of traffic.

CPO Hamdani stated that all available resources were being utilized to ensure the safety of citizens and the success of the security operation, adding that any negligence in duty would not be tolerated.
