ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Globally renowned political analyst Professor Adil Najam, based in Boston on Friday voiced optimism that ongoing talks between the two countries would lead to positive outcomes, calling Pakistan’s role a historic moment of pride and a major responsibility in facilitating dialogue.
While speaking exclusively to a local media outlet, Professor Adil Najam described it as a proud moment for Pakistan and its government, as well as a positive development for the international community that two countries have come to the negotiation table.
He said this achievement is a credit to Pakistan and deserves full acknowledgment, adding, the host and facilitator, Pakistan carries a significant responsibility to ensure that both sides are engaged in a constructive, balanced and dignified manner.
According to him, this is a delicate diplomatic role that requires careful handling to keep the dialogue productive and meaningful.
Responding to a question, he stated that both Iran and the United States appear willing to pursue a ceasefire and reduce tensions, showing an interest in stability and dialogue.
He noted that this openness creates space for diplomatic progress and potential de-escalation.
However, he remarked that certain regional actors, particularly Israel and India, appear to favor instability and continued conflict, which he described as disruptive to peace efforts, adding, their approach reflects an ongoing effort to undermine stability in the region and complicate the path toward lasting peace.
He further stated that the situation has now shifted to the United States courts and leadership, suggesting that the responsibility to control Israel’s actions now lies with the American system, adding, U.S. holds significant influence in shaping the next course of developments.
Analyst added that the current legal and political scrutiny in the United States reflects growing pressure regarding Israel’s conduct. According to him, this phase could play an important role in determining future diplomatic and regional outcomes.
He also referred to Israel as a “spoiler” in the ongoing efforts toward peace and stability. In his view, certain actions are contributing to the disruption of dialogue and complicating efforts aimed at de-escalation.
He emphasized that such dynamics make it more difficult to sustain momentum for negotiations, stressing that constructive engagement from all parties is essential for achieving lasting peace.
