Pakistan’s role in Iran ceasefire hailed as boost to peace, economy

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Leaders from Awaam Pakistan and a corporate executive on Thursday lauded Pakistan’s diplomatic role in efforts leading to a temporary halt in US and Israeli military action against Iran, terming it a positive step for regional peace and economic stability.

In a joint statement, Central Vice President Awaam Pakistan Chaudhry Inam Zafar and Additional General Secretary Hafiz Usman Abbasi paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their role in securing a two-week ceasefire in the Iran-Israel-US conflict.

They said the development had yielded immediate economic dividends, pointing to a decline in oil prices and an upward trend in stock markets as indicators of stabilising conditions following eased tensions.

Chaudhry Inam Zafar said the move reflected Pakistan’s responsible role at the global level and would have a positive impact on the national economy and people’s daily lives.

He added that the stance adopted by the army chief had proven instrumental in promoting peace and ensuring economic stability.

Hafiz Usman Abbasi said economists viewed the ceasefire as a factor that had boosted investor confidence, with visible improvements in Pakistan’s oil and stock markets in line with international trends.

Separately, Asma Butt, Chief Executive Officer of Dolphin Communication, also praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts, commending the leadership of the prime minister and the army chief.

She said Pakistan had consistently promoted peace and stability in the region and that its recent diplomatic engagement reinforced its image as a peace-loving nation. Such initiatives, she added, helped reduce tensions, strengthen international standing and built confidence in national leadership.

She expressed hope that continued diplomatic efforts would further promote regional harmony, economic stability and stronger international relations.
