PFA cracks down on food outlets,fines Rs.129,000

GUJRAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) On the directives of Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rizwan Saeed,strict enforcement of food safety regulations continued across the district as inspection drives targeted non-compliant food outlets,here on Monday.

According to a PFA spokesperson,a total of 171 inspections were conducted during the ongoing operations,while 104 improvement notices were issued to food business operators over violations of hygiene and safety standards.

Officials said that fines amounting to Rs.

129,000 were imposed on 10 food outlets for failing to comply with food safety regulations.

During the inspections,18.22 kilograms of expired,substandard and hazardous food items were discarded to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public.

The deputy director directed field teams to continue strict monitoring of food establishments and take indiscriminate action against violators to uphold food safety standards across the district.
