PFA destroys 3,700 liters of adulterated milk,320kg of unsafe meat

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has destroyed 3,700 liters of adulterated milk and 320 kilograms of unsafe meat during separate operations in Lahore while registering three cases and arresting two milk suppliers.

According to the PFA,food safety teams intercepted consignments of milk and meat destined for the provincial capital during raids conducted in different parts of the city.

PFA Director General(DG),Syed Musa Raza said on Saturday that 3,700 liters of milk transported from suburban areas were discarded after on-the-spot tests declared it unfit for human consumption.

Laboratory analysis later confirmed the milk had been adulterated with water, milk powder and ghee.

In a separate operation,officials seized and destroyed 320 kilograms of meat obtained from a dead animal after inspection found it unsafe for consumption.

The meat had changed color,emitted a foul odour and was being transported without mandatory traceability records or other required documents.

The authority also impounded two milk tankers,milk plungers and a vehicle used to transport the meat.

Three criminal cases were registered against those responsible while two milk suppliers were taken into custody.

The PFA chief said the authority would continue its crackdown on food adulteration and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those endangering public health through the sale of adulterated food
