PM felicitates Rumen Radev on winning Bulgaria parliamentary polls

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday congratulated Rumen Radev as his Progressive Bulgaria (PB) party clinched a "historic" victory in the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria.

"I congratulate H.E. Mr Rumen Radev on his historic victory in the recently held Parliamentary elections in Bulgaria," Prime Minister Shehbaz wrote on his X timeline.

He said that Pakistan valued its cordial and friendly relations with Bulgaria and looked forward to working closely with the newly elected Bulgarian Government to further strengthen the bilateral ties in the days ahead.

Obtaining around 44.7% of the votes, Rumen Radev's party secured a majority of 135 seats in the 240-seat parliament.

It is the first time since 1997 that a single Bulgarian party has sufficient seats to govern alone, according to the media reports.
