PMYP,Afridi Foundation to stage “Bunyan-ul-Marsoos” cricket match to honour national heroes

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) In a move to promote youth engagement and celebrate national heroes, the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), in collaboration with the Shahid Afridi Foundation, has announced the organisation of a special “Bunyan-ul-Marsoos” cricket match in Islamabad, scheduled around Eid-ul-Adha, featuring young cricketers selected through the PMYP Talent Hunt and well-known celebrities.

It was decided in a high-level meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office, chaired by Chairman PMYP Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, with national cricketer Shahid Afridi also in attendance, to honour the heroes of “Bunyan-ul-Marsoos” while promoting sports, positive youth activity, and social cohesion through cricket.

The meeting, attended by officials of the PMYP and the Shahid Afridi Foundation both in person and virtually, focused on strengthening youth engagement initiatives and expanding sports-based opportunities across the country.

During the session, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan congratulated Shahid Afridi on being awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services to cricket and social work, appreciating his continued contribution to youth development initiatives.

It was mutually agreed that the proposed cricket match would serve as a tribute to national heroes while providing a platform for emerging talent identified through the PMYP Talent Hunt programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Afridi expressed satisfaction over partnering with the youth programme, saying he welcomed initiatives that channel young energy into constructive and healthy activities.

Officials said the event aims to promote sports culture in Pakistan and encourage youth participation through high-profile, community-driven events.
