PO injured,arrested in ‘encounter’ in Khanewal

BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) A proclaimed offender(PO) was arrested after being injured in an alleged police encounter within the limits of Saddar police station,police said on Friday.

According to officials,the incident occurred in the 457-EB area when a police team signalled two motorcyclists to stop. Instead of complying,the pillion rider allegedly opened fire at the police party.

Police retaliated,taking cover behind their official vehicle and an exchange of fire ensued.

After the firing stopped,police found the suspect,identified as Muhammad Imran r/o Inayat Pura,lying injured at the scene.

He was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment.

Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Abbas said the accused was wanted in multiple cases registered in Khanewal, Kabirwala and adjoining areas.

Police claimed to have recovered a weapon along with stolen goods and cash from his possession.

Officials said the suspect was allegedly injured by fire from his own accomplice,who managed to escape.

Raids were being conducted to arrest the fleeing suspect.
