Police arrest four in crackdown on illegal arms, drug smuggling

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Kohat Police arrested four suspects in separate operations against illegal arms possession and drug smuggling as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal activities launched on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shahbaz Elahi.

According to police spokesman, personnel of Cantt Police Station, led by SHO Irfan Khan, arrested two armed suspects, identified as Shahid and Shamoon, during routine patrolling.

Police recovered a Kalashnikov rifle and ammunition from Shahid, while a pistol, a Kalashnikov and another firearm were seized from Shamoon.

Cases have been registered against both suspects, and further investigation is in progress.

In a separate operation, Jarma Police foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the district.

Acting on the DPO’s instructions, SHO Iqbal Khan established a checkpoint at Muslim Abad Checkpost, where police intercepted a suspicious car and recovered seven kilograms of hashish.

The two occupants, identified as Idris and Farman, were arrested on the spot. Initial investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly transporting the narcotics from Peshawar to Bannu.

A case has been registered at Jarma Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

DPO Shahbaz Elahi reaffirmed the police's commitment to continuing operations against criminals and drug traffickers to ensure the safety and security of the public.
