ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided not to hold its traditional central gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on April 4 to mark the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, citing the prevailing regional situation.

The announcement was made by PPP Secretary General Humayun Khan on the directives of party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

According to the statement, the party will instead observe the anniversary at the district level across the country.

All the provincial and district organizations, including elected representatives and ticket holders, have been instructed to organize Quran Khawani (recitation ceremonies) in their respective areas to pay tribute to the late leader.

Humayun Khan said the decision to forgo the central congregation was taken in view of the current situation in the region.

He added that the party leadership deemed it appropriate to mark the occasion in a more solemn and decentralized manner this year.

Humayun Khan further said that through these district-level gatherings, party workers and supporters will honor the sacrifices of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who laid down his life for the country and its people, and reaffirm their commitment to his political vision.
