RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) A comprehensive refresher training session for dengue field staff was held at the Arts Council Murree to strengthen surveillance and prevention measures against dengue virus.
The session was jointly chaired by Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and Chief Executive Officer Health Murree Dr Azhar Mehmood Abbasi.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner urged field staff to perform their duties with dedication and professionalism, stressing that negligence during the anti-dengue campaign would not be tolerated.
Dr Azhar Abbasi said that any lapse in dengue surveillance was unacceptable, adding that protecting human lives remained the top priority of the health department.
He directed teams to ensure regular monitoring of homes, public places and sensitive areas.
The training was attended by Deputy District Officer Health Dr Owais Alam, Dr Maryam Ali Abbasi, Health Inspector and Dengue Focal Person Rana Karamat Ali, Health Department focal person Syed Waseem Haider Shah, along with entomologists, supervisors, representatives of allied departments and media.
An awareness walk was also organized on Murree’s Mall Road after the session to educate the public about preventive measures against dengue.
The district administration and health department appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness, avoid stagnant water and follow precautionary guidelines to help prevent the spread of the disease.
