NARAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) After a gap of more than five months, work has officially begun on Friday to reopen the road leading to the famous tourist destination, Lake Saif-ul-Malook.
According to the details, following the instructions of Director General Kaghan Development Authority (KDA), Rahmat Ali, practical measures have been initiated to restore access for tourists to the lake, which is located at an altitude of 10,578 feet above sea level.
The Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has started clearing snow, glaciers, and other obstructions from the road using heavy machinery.
Situated amidst snow-covered mountains, Lake Saif-ul-Malook is currently fully frozen, offering breathtaking scenic views and attracting the attention of visitors even during the ongoing clearance operations.
KDA Building Inspector Zeeshan Khan infirmed media that the approximately 11-kilometer-long road from Naran to Lake Saif-ul-Malook contains six small and large glaciers along with various other blockages.
So far, around five kilometers of the route have been cleared.
He further stated that if weather conditions remain favorable, the road will be opened for four-wheel drive vehicles within a week, enabling tourists to access the lake and enjoy its stunning winter landscape.
Officials noted that the reopening of the Saif-ul-Malook road is expected to significantly increase tourist inflow to the region.
Being one of the most popular tourist destinations in Pakistan, Lake Saif-ul-Malook attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors every year, and improved accessibility will further enhance its tourism potential and boost local economic activity.
