RISJA Elects New Office Bearers Unopposed for 2026–27

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) The Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) has unanimously elected its new office bearers for the 2026–27 term, with all candidates returned unopposed, reflecting the confidence, unity, and consensus among the association's 60 members.

The Election Committee, headed by Chairman Shahryar Khan and comprising Rana Farhan Aslam, Shakir Abbasi, and Asim Jilani as members, successfully conducted the electoral process and officially announced the results.

Abubakar Bin Tallat was re-elected as President, while Zulfiqar Baig was elected Senior Vice President. Zahid Awan and Asgher Ali Mubarik were elected Vice Presidents. Ambreen Ali was elected General Secretary, Zeeshan Qayyum as Senior Joint Secretary, Awais Latif and Aqeel Anjum as Joint Secretaries, and Nasir Abbas Naqvi as Finance Secretary.

The newly elected Governing Body members are Faheem Anwar Khan, Gabriel De Souza, Awais Abbasi, Kiran Khan, and Asim Riaz.

Speaking on the occasion, President Abubakar Bin Tallat and General Secretary Ambreen Ali thanked all RISJA members for reposing their trust and confidence in the newly elected body. They pledged to uphold the association's longstanding traditions of professionalism, unity, and integrity while working collectively for the welfare of sports journalists.

They further reaffirmed their commitment to promoting ethical sports journalism, fostering closer cooperation among members, and ensuring that RISJA continues to play a leading role in the development of sports journalism in Pakistan.

Established in 1986, RISJA is the only registered organization of sports journalists in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, dedicated to promoting sports journalism, professional excellence, and the welfare of sports journalists in the twin cities.
