RTA cracks down on transporters for overcharging after fuel price cut

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) have intensified inspections of passenger vehicles in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank following the recent reduction in diesel prices.

Acting on directives of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dera Secretary Shaukat Iqbal, the RTA monitoring teams are actively checking buses and public transport vehicles at bus stands and along various routes to ensure implementation of newly notified government fares.

As part of the enforcement drive, official fare lists are being displayed on the front windshields of all passenger vehicles to keep commuters informed of the approved rates.

The authorities are also scrutinizing tickets issued to passengers to prevent any irregularities.

The strict legal action is being taken against drivers and transporters found overcharging, while on-the-spot fines are being imposed through traffic police.

The RTA secretary has directed transporters to strictly adhere to the official fare structure, warning that violations will lead to further stringent action.

The commuters have been urged to report any cases of overcharging to the RTA so that timely action can be taken.

Meanwhile, special monitoring of passenger transport operating between Dera Ismail Khan and Chashma has also been initiated as part of the ongoing campaign.
