PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Owing to practical steps taken by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the Safe City Project in Peshawar has been made fully operational, significantly enhancing surveillance and public safety mechanisms in the provincial capital.
The project, completed at a cost of Rs 2.23 billion, involves the installation of 784 modern cameras at 133 key locations across the city. These cameras are equipped with advanced technologies including PTZ, ANPR, thermal imaging and other smart features.
According to official details provided on Thursday, the cameras have been installed at major such as Shami Road, Machni Chungi, Aman Chowk, Iqra Chowk, board Bazaar, Phase 3 and Phase 5, Jamrud Road, Karkhano Phatak, Hayatabad, Nasir Bagh Road, Suri Pul, Bacha Khan Chowk, Bara Pul, Chowk Yadgar, Namak Mandi, Lahori Gate, Jail Pul, Haji Camp, Peshawar Bus Terminal and Molvi Ji Hospital.
All cameras have been linked to a central Command and Control Center, enabling effective traffic management, swift emergency response and continuous monitoring of the city. The system also covers Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, the Red Zone and other sensitive areas.
The project is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening law and order and ensuring improved security for citizens in the provincial capital.
