KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday said the provincial government would fully respond to any Federal measures aimed at preventing a fuel shortage.
In a statement, he said the Sindh government was already implementing all decisions taken by the Centre and had initiated additional steps to address the situation.
Referring to austerity measures, the minister said the Sindh cabinet had decided to forgo salaries for three months. He added that a four-day workweek would be introduced, with Fridays observed as work-from-home days.
He said Sindh would continue to support federal decisions at all levels, adding that all possible steps were being taken to meet public needs and maintain fuel reserves until the situation was brought under control.
The minister further said that in the event of a lockdown imposed by the federal government, Sindh would ensure its full implementation, stressing the need to avoid any scenario leading to fuel and energy shortages.
He added that 60 per cent of government vehicles had been grounded under provincial measures, while several initiatives were under way to conserve fuel and curb potential inflation. He said Sindh would extend full cooperation if further assistance was sought by the Centre.
Appealing to the public, he urged citizens to work from home wherever possible, describing the situation as a collective challenge rather than an individual concern. He emphasised that conserving fuel and safeguarding energy reserves required public cooperation.
Highlighting the regional context, he said all decisions were being taken with the priority of keeping prices stable and preventing fuel shortages. He added that key measures had also been introduced in the public transport sector to ensure maximum facilitation for commuters.
