Sub-engineer held while taking bribe in Khanewal

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) raided and arrested a sub-engineer of the Irrigation department while taking Rs50,000 bribe during a trap raid conducted in Khanewal on Wednesday

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) raided and arrested a sub-engineer of the Irrigation department while taking Rs50,000 bribe during a trap raid conducted in Khanewal on Wednesday.

According to spokesman, the operation was carried out under the directives of Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab Sohail Zafar Chattha as part of the department’s ongoing crackdown against corruption across the province. The raid was supervised by Regional Director Anti-Corruption Multan Basharat Nabi and led by Circle Officer Anti-Corruption Khanewal Sajid Ali along with his team.

The accused, identified as Sub-Engineer Saifullah of the Irrigation department, demanded a bribe from a citizen in exchange for enlarging a canal water outlet (Moga).

Following verification of the complaint, the Anti-Corruption team raided and apprehended the official red-handed and recovered tainted notes.

A case was registered against the suspect and further investigation launched.
