Task force decide to conduct assessment, survey methodology to evaluate potential spread of HIV

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The PM Task Force, in its third meeting, along with other measures, agreed to develop a comprehensive rapid assessment and survey methodology to evaluate the potential spread of HIV within the general population.

The High-Level Task Force established on the instructions of the Prime Minister to investigate HIV cases.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of State for Health Dr Mukhtar Bharath and Co-Chairman of the Task Force Major General (retd) Dr Azhar Mahmood Kayani.

Members of the task force, included participants from Federal and provincial institutions, health experts and other relevant stakeholders.

Additional Secretary Health, CIO, officials of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and representatives from the Health Services academy also participated.

The task force decided on several important and targeted measures aimed at controlling the spread of HIV across the country.

Participants were informed that urgent steps are being implemented rapidly to contain the disease and strengthen preventive mechanisms.

During the meeting, clear responsibilities were assigned to technical partners to ensure effective coordination.

The task force also decided that the draft National Public Health Law would be shared with all members for consensus.
