Tezgam Train derails near Lodhran, 25 injured

A section of the Tezgam Express derailed near Lodhran on Tuesday, leaving at least 25 passengers injured, rescue officials said

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) A section of the Tezgam Express derailed near Lodhran on Tuesday, leaving at least 25 passengers injured, rescue officials said.

According to initial reports, eight coaches went off the track, of which five overturned while three derailed. The accident reportedly began from the fourth coach behind the engine.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 reached the site promptly and launched relief operations. Seventeen passengers sustained minor injuries and were provided first aid on the spot, while eight injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Lodhran for further treatment.

Officials said no fatalities have been reported so far. The Station Master and Assistant Station Master Lodhran are supervising rescue efforts at the scene.

Senior railway authorities are also heading to the site, while train operations on the affected track have been suspended.

The cause of the accident will be determined after a formal investigation. Restoration work is expected to begin shortly.
