Three policemen martyred, four Injured in attack on police

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Three police personnel were martyred and four others, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were injured when unidentified terrorists opened fire on a police vehicle during an anti-narcotics operation in Thore Nala, Diamer on Monday.

According to Diamer police, the police team was engaged in destroying illegal poppy cultivation in the area when their vehicle came under sudden attack by armed men. As a result, three constables embraced martyrdom on the spot, while four others sustained injuries.

The martyred personnel have been identified as Muqabil Shah (Chilas), Hazratullah (Goharabad), and Abdul Rahim (Tangir). The injured include DSP Faqir Muhammad, Naqeeb Ahmed (Thak), and Rehmatullah Gais (Chilas).

The injured officials were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility. Following the incident, heavy police contingents have been deployed to the area, and a search operation was underway to apprehend the attackers. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the incident.
