Tree Plantation launched under 'Green Enrollment Campaign' in Paharpur

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) A tree plantation campaign was formally launched in Tehsil Paharpur as part of the 'Green Enrollment Campaign' during a ceremony held at Dhakki LTRC.

District Forest Officer Ameen-ul-Salam attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling. According to details, the saplings will be planted across the entire sub-division, including 77 schools in the Dhakki circle. The Forest Department has also approved the provision of 4,000 saplings for the campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, DFO Ameen-ul-Salam emphasized that climate change has become a serious challenge, and increasing tree plantation is essential to combat rising temperatures, pollution, and environmental instability. He noted that trees play a vital role in purifying the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering temperatures, and providing fuel, fruit, and timber, thereby contributing to economic stability.

Sub-Divisional education Officer Dr Humayun Khan Khattak stated that the Green Enrollment Campaign aims not only to promote plantation but also to increase school enrollment, helping build an educated and healthy society.

He urged teachers, students, and parents to actively participate in the initiative.

The other speakers also highlighted the importance of tree plantation, noting its role in reducing environmental pollution, preventing floods and soil erosion, and mitigating climate change.

On the directives of District Education Officer (Male) Tahir Shah, all head teachers have been instructed to actively take part in the campaign and ensure maximum plantation within their institutions.

The ceremony concluded with a collective planting by participants, who reaffirmed their commitment to continuing both the plantation and enrollment campaigns to ensure a cleaner, greener, and safer environment for future generations.

Sub-Divisional Education Officer Paharpur, Dr Humayun Khan Khattak, along with Assistant Sub-Divisional Education Officers Tajammal Hussain Khan, Ishaq Chauhan, and Nazakat Hussain Khan Baloch, also participated in the plantation drive, highlighting its importance.

The ceremony was attended by head teachers, school leaders, teaching staff, and local community members from all three circles.
