PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) The University of Agriculture Peshawar (UAP) on Wednesday strengthened its livestock research capacity by inaugurating new dairy farm infrastructure, imported high-breed dairy animals and modern farm machinery at its Livestock Research and Breeding Farm.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sarzamin Khan formally inaugurated the newly established cattle shed, dairy animals and farm equipment, including tractors, during a ceremony held at the university’s livestock farm.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the initiative would significantly improve practical research opportunities for students and enhance the university’s contribution to the livestock and dairy sectors.
He added that modern livestock management and quality breeding facilities were essential for supporting farmers and boosting agricultural productivity.
Chairman Department of Livestock Management, Breeding and Genetics Professor Dr. Syed Muhammad Sohail informed the participants that the newly added animals had been imported from the Netherlands and other European countries under the TDC project to improve breeding standards and dairy production.
He said the animals were being provided with silage, molasses and specially prepared feed to ensure better health and productivity.
He further shared that semen from these imported breeds would soon be made available to farmers to help improve local livestock genetics.
Officials also informed the gathering that more than 70 postgraduate research studies had already been completed on animals at the farm, while regular training workshops were being organized for progressive farmers to promote modern livestock practices.
The VC appreciated the efforts of the faculty and farm management team and assured full institutional support for further development of the facility.
He said all necessary resources would be provided to ensure uninterrupted student research and effective utilization of farm resources for the benefit of both the university and the farming community.
Deans of various faculties, faculty members and students attended the ceremony, which concluded with a vote of thanks and presentation of a bouquet to the Vice Chancellor.
