RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Dr Muhammad Asim Raza, Superintendent Slaughterhouse Dina and Veterinary Officer of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, ensured provision of safe and hygienic meat to the public through strict inspection procedures at the Dina slaughterhouse on Monday.
He conducted pre-slaughter examination of animals and allowed only healthy ones for slaughter. After slaughter, he inspected the meat and internal organs and permitted supply for public consumption only after proper verification and stamping.
He directed strictly implement the Punjab Animal Slaughter Control Act, 1964 (amended 2016), under which slaughter of underage calves, young goats and lambs, as well as pregnant or breeding female animals is prohibited.
He also advised butchers not to bring tick-infested animals to the slaughterhouse and urged them to adopt precautionary measures, including wearing masks, gloves and full-sleeved clothing, to prevent diseases such as Congo fever.
He coordinated with the Tehsil Administration and the Punjab food Authority to curb illegal slaughter of unhealthy animals.
