Zone-III, Zone-VII register wins in regional inter-district senior cricket tournament

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Zone-III and Zone-VII secured victories in their respective first-round matches on the third and final day of the Regional Inter-District Senior cricket Tournament (Karachi Region), played at various grounds across the city on Thursday.

The highlight of the final day’s play was a fighting unbeaten knock of 72 by Sabeeh Siddiqui, which helped Zone-VII seal victory.

At the UBL sports Complex, Zone-III defeated Zone-I by four wickets. After scoring 219 in their first innings, Zone-I were bowled out for 181 in 65.3 overs in the second innings. Muhammad Jawad top-scored with 64, while Ziauddin made 43 and Bahadur Ali contributed 28. Muhammad Fahad Ameen claimed four wickets for 40 runs, while Abdul Rafay and Israr Ahmed took two wickets each.

In reply, Zone-III, who had made 280 for seven in their first innings, reached 121 for six in 32.1 overs to complete the chase. Fahad Ansari remained unbeaten on 36, while Adil Hussain scored 33. Muhammad Raza and Rehman Ghani took two wickets each.

At the KCCA Stadium, Zone-VII defeated Zone-V in a closely contested match.

Zone-V, after being dismissed for 134 in their first innings, posted 348 in 99.3 overs in the second innings. Muhammad Ali Butt played a superb innings of 123, studded with 17 fours and a six, while Watan Dost scored 56 and Fahad Shah added 52. Arif Yaqoob and M. Usman Bin Rashid claimed four wickets each.

In response, Zone-VII, who had scored 297 in their first innings, reached 186 for eight in 60.1 overs in the second innings to secure victory. Sabeeh Siddiqui led the chase with an unbeaten 72, including 10 boundaries, while Huzaifa Muneer contributed 47 and Khaifd-un-Nabi made 27. Muhammad Ali Butt and Sahil Iqbal took two wickets apiece.

According to the organisers, the next round of matches will be played from April 24 to 26.

Zone-II vs Zone-VII at UBL Sports Complex.

Zone-III vs Zone-VI at KCCA Stadium.
