135 food points panelized for hygiene violations in Lodhran last month

LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched enforcement actions to ensure food safety standards and conducted inspections at 2,229 food points during the last month across the district.

According to official details, food safety teams conducted inspections at 2,229 food points during the month. As a result, 803 food business operators were served improvement notices for failing to meet hygiene and safety standards, while 135 food points were imposed heavy fines over various violations.

During the crackdown, authorities confiscated and disposed of 400 liters of adulterated and expired beverages along with 20 kilograms of substandard spices.

An FIR registered against one food business operator while production of five food points halted for fraud and adulteration.

Director General PFA, Syed Musa Raza, stated that the actions were taken against food adulteration, fraudulent practices, and poor hygiene conditions. The food samples collected during inspections were also sent to laboratories for further analysis.

He emphasized that strict monitoring was being carried out at every stage - from food preparation to delivery in order to provide safe and quality food to the public. Ensuring quality food to citizens was top priority of the authority.
