PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) A sessions court here Thursday sentenced four police officials to one month in prison for failing to comply with court orders and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000 on each cop.
The case was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Mirza Muhammad Kashif in connection with a forgery case in which the four police personnel had been nominated as official prosecution witnesses.
After completing the hearing, the court announced its verdict, convicting all four officials and awarding them one month imprisonment along with the monetary penalty.
The court further directed the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to arrest the convicted officials and transfer them to the Central Jail.
It also ordered that a compliance report be submitted within 14 days. Additionally, the jail authorities were instructed to take custody of the accused and submit a report accordingly.
According to the prosecution, the accused include Assistant Sub-Inspectors Jamal Shah and Qamar Zaman, who were listed as prosecution witnesses in the case. Constables Rafiq and Alamgir were also among the witnesses.
The court noted that despite repeated summons, the officials failed to appear before the court, which led to legal proceedings against them and ultimately their conviction.
