The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by former Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) chief Shahid Haider, upholding his dismissal and refusing to grant any relief

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by former Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) chief Shahid Haider, upholding his dismissal and refusing to grant any relief.

The case was heard by Justice Shahid Karim, who announced the verdict after hearing detailed arguments from both sides.

Representing the Federal government, Asad Ali Bajwa opposed the petition, arguing that the petitioner faced serious allegations. He told the court that the Prime Minister, as chief executive, has the authority to order an inquiry, and that the decision to remove the former LESCO chief was taken after the allegations were proven through a formal inquiry.

Counsel for LESCO also supported the government’s stance.

The petitioner’s counsel, however, argued that no corruption charges had been established against Shahid Haider and maintained that initiating an inquiry after his retirement was unlawful. He further contended that the inquiry was launched on the Prime Minister’s directive and that the inquiry committee had been constituted illegally, urging the court to set aside the dismissal.

After considering the arguments, the court rejected the petition and declared the dismissal lawful.
