Multan sets 324,400-ton wheat procurement target

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) A review meeting on the wheat procurement campaign 2026 was held in Multan division on Saturday under the chairmanship of Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan.

The commissioner said the wheat support price has been fixed at Rs3,500 per 40kg, while a procurement target of 324,400 metric tonnes has been set for the division.

Officials informed the meeting that 17 procurement center were operational across the division, including five in Multan, four in Khanewal, five in Vehari and three in Lodhran.

The meeting was told that 371,463 metric tonnes worth of gunny bags were available, with quotas already distributed among all districts.

A briefing revealed that wheat harvesting has reached 99.5 per cent, while threshing stands at 93.52 per cent, with an average moisture content of 11 per cent.

Directing officials to ensure achievement of targets, the commissioner stressed timely payments to farmers and transparent distribution of gunny bags.

He also ordered strict daily monitoring,warning that no negligence or delay would be tolerated.

Departments were instructed to improve coordination and promptly resolve any hurdles in the procurement process.
