One killed, another hurt in knife attack at Pir Jeevan mela in Dhanote

LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) A dispute at the annual Pir Jeevan fair (mela) in Dhanote turned deadly after a group of men allegedly attacked security guards at a circus, leaving one person dead and another injured late at night.

Police said here on Friday that the incident occurred when several individuals attempted to enter the circus without tickets.

When stopped by guards at the entrance, they reportedly attacked them with knives.

As a result, Ijaz Ahmad and Faheem were injured and shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Kahror Pacca, where Ijaz later succumbed to his injuries.

The assailants managed to escape amid the rush of people at the fair.

Police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother and launched an investigation.
