Russia offers to mediate Iran-US tensions, says Kremlin

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says President Vladimir Putin is in continuous contact with regional leaders as part of efforts to defuse tensions

MOSCOW: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 2nd, 2026) Russia has offered to assist in resolving the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with the Kremlin confirming its readiness to play a diplomatic role in easing the situation.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that President Vladimir Putin is in continuous contact with regional leaders as part of efforts to defuse tensions. He added that Moscow stands ready to extend full cooperation if its involvement is required to help bring the situation back to a peaceful path.

“President Putin is maintaining these contacts, and if our services are needed in any capacity, we are certainly ready to provide full support,” Peskov said while speaking to journalists.

Meanwhile, President Putin is scheduled to host Egypt’s foreign minister later today. According to the Kremlin, the meeting will focus on the Iran-related tensions, the overall situation in the middle East, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
